Earlier today, I applied for a passport at DFA. And I experienced something that is not good and corrupt in the business surrounding the DFA office. And I thought that, if many people are applying for passport to find jobs abroad or just applying for travel or for valid id, many people might have been tricked for their money. I’m talking about fixers surround DFA office. So here we are, spreading about the message so you know and you won’t be robbed away from your money.

This is the real guide on how to apply for a passport in the Philippines. Do not be scammed. Read and learn.

What You Should Bring

You MUST (its a must) that you bring these documents before you go to DFA office. You have been warned. If you are not prepared, many fixers will be talking to you to take away your money. These documents are:

NSO Birth certificate
3 colored passport ids. (Go to a photo shop and say you want an id picture for passport)
2 Valid IDs
Supporting documents indicating your place of birth
Ballpen - is expensive inside
Paste - for pasting your photo id on the application form (its expensive inside)

To get a complete list please see DFA official website. Once you got all the necessary documents. It’s time to visit the office.

Walkthrough

As soon as you walk towards DFA office, BE ON YOUR GUARD. Immediately, a person will talk to you and will say to you where you should first go when applying for passport. Its a fixer and he’s out to get your money.

How will you know if he’s a Fixer?

They wear polo barong. The kind of polo barong that security guards wear please see picture.
They have an ID. They have ID saying that they are from DFA. No… They are not from DFA. People from DFA do not work on the streets prying on poor people for money.
They will show you where to get the application form. The application form is available INSIDE the DFA office on the basketball court GATE 1. Remember that. The people claiming that they will give you application form is true. But this is a fixer we are talking about and they will sell you things that you already have, photo ids, ballpens. On top of that, you can also download the application form on DFA website. So be prepared.
They will ask you if you already have a photo. Keep in mind, you must have a photo id already before you go to DFA office. The price for passport size photo id within the vicinity of DFA office is a wopping P150 - P300. Where you can only get P60 normally.
All your documents are wrong. They will try to convince you that all your documents are wrong and you should buy from them or have them “fix” the application for you. No matter what they say, do not believe them. I already experienced being harrassed that my documents are false and they want me to take another photo or wants me to buy their service to fix their application. I just went inside the DFA office and the application was a breeze.
They have a warning sign that says “NO TO FIXERS” with DFA logo in it. Its a gimmick. Do not be fooled. They are the fixers. You should head to DFA office immediately and do not entertain anyone that comes to talk to you. Its a jungle out there so be on your guard.

Inside DFA Office

If you made it alive inside the DFA office. Great job! Passport application is just easy. There are only 3 steps in passport application. And are categorized by using gates.

Gate 1, Gate 2, Gate 3.

Gate 1 - Gym

This is where you’ll get the application form and also some validation.

Gate 2

This is where you’ll get the passport for release.

Gate 3

This is where you’ll pay for the passport fee and verification of data. There’s a large sign with gate 3 sign. You won’t miss it.

Final Remarks

Please be on your guard when somebody talks to you especially when you are walking on your way to the DFA office. The most recommended approach to this is to bring everything you need already and go straight to DFA office.

Also, be reminded that even if you’re already inside the DFA office. Be on your guard. Fixer accomplices are still lurking inside wearing security guard uniforms. Well actually, some security guards there are accomplices by other fixers. I was just asking for direction to gate 1 and they want me to go outside DFA office to talk to a fixer.

Saan po ba pwede magfile ng complain laban sa fixer lalo na niloko ka para kumuha sa kanila ng affidavit na hindi naman importante at mali mali pa ang grammar, spelling at pagkagawa. Nakatatak dun name ng abogado notariado. 250 lang naman maliit lang wala sakin yun kaso im concerned sa iba madami pa s i la lolokohin sa araw araw kung ganun ginagawa nila mas madami pa maloloko. maraming salamat po sa information,may pasport n po ako kaya lang nawala po so aaply lang ako ng panibago kasama ang paglalakad sa pasport ng 2ng anak ko…meron po ba kayong idea kung ano ang dapat kon gawin kasi po sabi nila kailangan ko daw po ikuha ang mga bata ng police at nbi clearance..antay po ako ng sagot at maramin salamat po sa site nyo malaking tulong sa mga tao…od bless ……..arsie of taguig city

Sad to say medyo mahirap magcomplain laban sa fixers. That is why may ganitong post dito sa site na ito para maiwasan ang madaming biktima. You can take part in this by spreading the word.

For what I know, if the child is not more than 7 years old. HIndi mo na sya kailangan isama sa pagaapply ng passport. Birth certificate lang of the child. For kids above 7, you need to bring them when you apply. I am not sure kung kailangan ng bata ng nbi clearance. You can check the dfa website.

hi,may birth at marriage cert frm nso,ctc ng mariage contract,baptismal certificate,nbi,certification of non registered voters,barangay clearance,cedula, hi school diploma,pero ang id ko po ay postal id lang at TIN ID.pwede na ba ito to apply for a passport o kulang pa? thanks and sana may mag advice kasi nagpunta na ako sa dfa pero di inaprovan nuon kasi wala pa akong TIN ID nun at birth certificate.

Pede na yang mga documents mo. Punta kana sa dfa. Remember, wag ka titigil sa paglalakad kapag may kumausap sayo. Nakabarong sila, mga fixers. Ingat na lang po.

san pwede magsumbong tungkol sa paggamit ng passport ng ibang name? meron po bang sumbungan area sa DFA. un kamag anak ng friend me labis na ang ginagawa halos kapag umaalis ang asawa nya gamit ang ibang name di marunong tumanaw ng utang na loob. di bale daalawang passport ang hawak nya. please help me. un isang name kase patay na ung may ari. korea un destination nya ngaun taon.

i am married and mother of 4yrs old. we are planning to apply for her passport but the problem is i am in abroad and only my husband will accompany her to apply in dfa. iam browsing the requirements needed for her application since the age of my daugher is in mother care but unfortunetely i was not able to get precised and cleared answer.so please help me and give me the exact documents that i have to accomplish

walng kwenta talaga ang pilipinas kasi lahat ng panloloko nanjan ..wlang nagawa ang dfa jan dapat nga alisin nila ang fixer para dire2tso ang proseso kawawa ung mga taong naloloko…kaya nga kahit anong gawin sa pilipinas na pagbabago walang magbabago kasi puro panloloko lang ang alam…dapat yang dfa tigilan nila ang mga yan diba? bakit nila hayaan na may fixer jan sa harap nila? nasisira ang dfa dahil hindi nila hinuhuli ang mga yan…dapat wag kayo maniniwala agad sa mga sabi sabi dun kau magtanung sa may experienced na o dapat yung may alam na siguraduhin niyo din kasi baka hihingi ng pera yan..i was this in situation too naloko din ako peru nung huli ako at yung kapatid ko na ang umasikaso hindi na ako naniniwala sa mga tao na mukhang pera ..und now ich bin heir im switzerland mit meine ehemann…if u want to ask me you can email me and i am glad and tell you the truth..

hayy naku muntik narin ako jan sa paggamit ng name ung kapitbahay namin gusto niya gamitin ang name ko at bayaran lang daw ako ng 10thousand anu ako bale? kahit bata pa ako noon hindi ko ipapagamit ang name o ang birth cert.ko para diyan kasi pagdating ng panahon magsisi ka..at isa pa pangarap ko din makapunta abroad wag kayo basta basta magpapagamit ng name niyo baka pag magkakaso yung gumamit ng name niyo kayo makukulong hindi yung gumamit nang name mo…think 1st bago ipagamit ang pangalan …at diyan sa gumamit sa pangalan ng iba diyos na lang ang bahala sa kaniya karma nalang sa kanya..

Don’t go to the Clark RCO for your passport. They are all corrupt including the people behind the counter. We paid 1200 for expedited service and came back in 10 business days. They then told us we didn’t have the correct documents but the could ‘fix’ that for an additional 1500. We gave them the 1500, and then they said comeback in the afternoon with another 1500. We said no, we just want our original documents back, they said not unless we give them more money. There is a line of people outside the office with the same problem. Warn everyone you know to stay away from the crooks at the Clark RCO/DFA.
